The Call That Changed Our Lives!

May 12th

We had our 6-hour Adoption Training Class and during the last hour of this class my phone rang.

I saw the name "Jilma." I jumped up and ran outside to take the call. What she said changed our world!

"I have a 3-year old little guy. Would you like me to send you his picture?"

As the tears came, my heart was overflowing with joy as I realized the path we had begun to walk was not just a path anymore, but the beginning of an incredible journey! Overwhelmed by the amazing fact that our son's picture would soon be coming to my cell phone. Listening to the rest of the class that last hour was a little difficult as our hearts were filling up with knowing that our boy was identified and we were about to see him.

We told the class about the phone call, and they all wanted to see our boy's precious face. We told them we were sorry, but we wanted to share his face with Meghan, Mallory, and Micah first. They understood.

The class ended, and we were OUT the door. Paul wanted to park somewhere where we would remember the very first place we saw our son's face. I didn't want to wait any longer, so the Sonic parking lot on Ustick was it the place.

We both held our breath as the photo downloaded to my phone...and then we saw his face. Our precious boy.

We called Jilma to tell her how excited we were! She was so excited for us and let us know that he was in fact a true orphan. Our precious boy did not have living parents in Africa to care for him. God's plan was for us to love him and for him to become a apart of our family.

Micah got to "meet" Malachi first. We picked him up from his friend's house and showed him Malachi's picture. He yelled with delight,
"My little brother!!"

Meghan met Malachi next, when she got home, Paul showed her his phone. She squealed with delight, grabbed the phone and hugged it while spinning around the room with amazing joy! It was love at first sight!

Mallory saw Malachi when she got home later that evening. She jumped up and down as she realized that she was "getting another brother!" AND now she knows what he looks like.

Extreme joy is the best way to express the state of the Hatfield home! Still praying for our precious daughter whom we cannot wait to see.

You will often find Paul or me just staring at his picture as we pray for him.

CAN'T WAIT FOR MANY OF YOU TO MEET MALACHI!
